In addition to breeding services to our fine Lipizzan stallion, Conversano Ivey, Simply Sport Horses offers limited opportunities for dressage training and basic dressage riding lessons.
We strictly limit the number of horses that we take in for training so that we can allocate the time and focus necessary to improve each horse during its training stay.
Horses in for training are stabled in box stalls with mats and shavings. They are fed and watered twice a day, and the stalls are cleaned daily. Horses in for training have free access to an individual paddock, within sight of the other horses on the property but in a quiet and more private location so as to avoid adding any undue stress to their stay at Simply Sport Horses.
Depending on the horse’s level of experience and the owner’s desired training objectives, horses may be worked in-hand, on long-lines, on the lunge, or under saddle. Simply Sport Horses has a standard-sized 20x60 meter outdoor dressage court where lessons and most training sessions take place. Horses are also hacked out on the country roads for cooling down after a workout, or for a change of pace during training to keep their minds fresh and engaged.

Training sessions normally last about an hour, depending on the horse’s level of mental and physical maturity. Young and immature horses benefit from more frequent training sessions of a shorter duration, while older horses may benefit from fewer sessions with each one being longer to focus on more advanced concepts. A training log is kept for each horse and provided to the owner at the end of the horse’s stay, or more often if desired. The training log provides information on each session’s work efforts and details the horse’s progress through training.
